The Dream titled "The Room"

In that place between wakefulness and dreams, I found myself in the room. There were no distinguishing features save for on wall covered with small index-cards files. They were like the ones in libraries that list titles by author or subject in alphabetical order. But these files, which stretched from floor to ceiling and seemingly endlessly in either direction, had very different headings. As I drew near the wall of files, the first to catch my attention was one that read “Girls I have liked.” I opened it and began flipping through the cards. I quickly shut it, shocked to realize that I recognized the names written on each one.

And then without being told, I knew exactly where I was. This lifeless room with its small files was a crude catalog system for my life. Here were written the actions of my every moment, big and small, in a detail my memory couldn’t match. A sense of wonder and curiosity, coupled with horror, stirred within me as I began randomly opening files and exploring their contents. Some brought joy and sweet memories; others a sense of shame and regret so intense that I would look over shoulder to see if anyone was watching. A file named “Friends” was next to one marked “Friends I have betrayed.” The titles ranged from the mundane to the outright weird: “Books I have read,” “lies I have told,” “comfort I have given,” “jokes I have laughed at.” Some were almost hilarious in their exactness: “Things I have done in Anger,” “Things I have muttered under my breath at my parents.” I never ceased to be surprised by the contents. Often there were many more cards than I expected. Sometimes there were fewer than I hoped.

I was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of the life I had lived. Could it be possible that I had the time in my twenty years to write each of these thousands, possibly millions, of cards? But each card confirmed this truth. Each was written in my own handwriting. Each signed with my signature. When I pulled out the file marked “Songs I have listened to,” I realized the files grew to contain their contents. The cards were packed tightly, and yet after two or three yards, I hadn’t found the end of the file. I shut it, shamed, not so much by the quality of music, but more by the vast amount of time I knew the file represented. When I came to a file marked “lustful thoughts,” I felt a chill run through my body. I pulled the file out only an inch, not willing to test its size, and drew out a card. I shuddered at its detailed contents. I felt sick to think that such a moment had been recorded.

Suddenly I felt an almost animal rage. One thought dominated my mind: “No one must ever see these cards! I have to destroy them!” In an insane frenzy I yanked out the file out. Its size didn’t matter now. I had to empty it and burn the cards. But as I took the file at one end and began pounding it on the floor, I could not dislodge a single card. I became desperate and pulled out a card, only to find it as strong as steel when I tried to tear it. Defeated and utterly helpless, I returned the file to its slot. Leaning my forehead against the wall, I let out a long, self-pitying sigh. And then I saw it.

The title bore “People I have shared the gospel with.” The handle was brighter than those around it, newer, almost unused. I pulled on its handle and a small box not more than three inches long fell into my hands. I could count the cards it contained on one hand. And then tears came, I began to weep. Sobs so deep that the hurt started in my stomach and shook through me. I fell on my knees and cried. I cried out of shame, from the overwhelming shame of it all. The rows of files shelves swirled in my tear-filled eyes. No one must ever, ever know of this room.

But then as I pushed away the tears, I saw Him. No, please, not Him. Not here. Oh, anyone but Jesus. I watched helplessly as He began to open the files and red the cards. I couldn’t bear to watch His response. And in the moments I could bring myself to look at His face, I saw a sorrow deeper than my own. He seemed to intuitively go to the worst boxes.

Finally He turned and looked at me from across the room. He looked at m e with pity in His eyes. But this was a pity that didn’t anger me. I dropped my head, covered my face with my hand, and began to cry again. He walked over and put His arm around me. He could have said so many things. But He didn’t say a word. He just cried with me. Then He got up and walked back to the walls of files. Starting at one end of the room, He took out a file and, one by one, began to sign His name over mine on each card.

“No!” I shouted, rushing over to Him. All I could find to say was “No, no, no,” as I pulled the card from Him. His name shouldn’t be on these cards. But there it was, written in red, so rich, so dark, so alive. The name of Jesus covered mine. It was written with His blood. He gently took the card back. He smiled a sad smile and continued to sign the cards. I don’t think I’ll ever understand how He did it so quickly, but the next instant it seemed I heard Him close the last file and walk back to my side. He placed His hand on my shoulder and said, “It is finished.”

The dream is a picture of what Christ truly accomplished when he died on the cross. He literally took our guilt on Himself. And this meant much more than just having His name on a card. It meant receiving the punishment from God that all those sinful words and actions deserved. It is only by repenting of our sins and putting out faith in Christ that this substitution can take place. We each have a "room" containing all out sinful deeds and thoughts. But just because we admit this or feel bad about it doesn't mean we're forgiven. Remorse can't save anyone. Only faith in Christ can. Only trust in His death and resurrection for us.

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class walking home from school. His name was Kyle.

It looked like he was carrying all of his books.
I thought to myself, 'Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday?
He must really be a nerd.'
I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.

As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him.
They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt.
His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him...

He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes
My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.

As I handed him his glasses, I said, 'Those guys are jerks.'
They really should get lives.

' He looked at me and said, 'Hey thanks!'
There was a big smile on his face.
It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.

I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived.
As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before..

He said he had gone to private school before now.
I would have never hung out with a private school kid before.

We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books.
He turned out to be a pretty cool kid.

I asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends
He said yes.

We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him.

Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again.
I stopped him and said, 'Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!

' He just laughed and handed me half the books.

Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends..

When we were seniors we began to think about college.
Kyle decided on Georgetown and I was going to Duke.

I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never
be a problem.

He was going to be a doctor and I was going for business on a football scholarship..

Kyle was valedictorian of our class.

I teased him all the time about being a nerd.

He had to prepare a speech for graduation.
I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak

Graduation day, I saw Kyle.
He looked great.

He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school.
He filled out and actually looked good in glasses.

He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him.
Boy, sometimes I was jealous!

Today was one of those days.
I could see that he was nervous about his speech.
So, I smacked him on the back and said, 'Hey, big guy, you'll be great!'

He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled.

' Thanks,' he said.

As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began

'Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years.
Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly your friends....
I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them.

I am going to tell you a story.'

I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the first day we met.
He had planned to kill himself over the weekend.

He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home.

He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.

'Thankfully, I was saved.

My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable..'

I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment.

I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile.

Not until that moment did I realize it's depth.

Never underestimate the power of your actions..

With one small gesture you can change a person's life.

For better or for worse.

God puts us all in each others lives to impact one another in some way.

Look for God in others.

'Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.'

There is no beginning or end..
Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.

Hey guys, on 15 May 2009, Friday. We are going to have a short run and exercise The information are as follow:

Time: 5pm - 6.15pm
Venue: Tampines Stadium
Attire: PT Kit with running or comfortable shoes
Items to bring along: Towel, another set of clothes and body wash.

After the run and some exercise, we will be going to take a quick shower at the shower facilities nearby and chiong for cellgroup. Maybe, we will drop by a nearby bakery to have simple snack and go for 8pm CGM @ Ivan's house. Yeah!

Alternatively, if you don't know how to get there and you are coming late or anything. you can contact me, James. and I will make arrangement for you!

She is doing very well and still running spiritually strong. She have not been around with us much due to her tight and busy schedule she have.

Hey all,

The blog has not been updated in ages. Anyways, i am overseas on holiday now. Haha. I'm in Japan, where i can't speak their language and communication is quite difficult. Today, it was raining, so i had quite a lot of time to reflect, and it came to me that my family has been blessed by God the whole time i have been in Japan. God is a great God and blesses us no matter where we are. This few days in Japan, God has blessed my family and I with the favour of man. When we are struggling with transport, direction and even during shopping! God placed a person who can speak both english and japanese to help us communicate. It seemed coincidental at first, but nothing is coincidental, God has a purpose for everything he does. He placed people around us that can help us out of our difficulty. Yea, indeed God is a great God, a God who will never leave us at times of need. He will always show us a way out. Psalms 56:3-4 says "Whenever i am afraid, I will trust in God. In God i have put my trust, i will not fear, what man can do to me.". In God we trust, we do not need to fear whenever we are afraid. For God is always with us. Yea, thank God for blessing my family and I! (:

Hey e426 :) just wanna share with all of you how God has blessed me during this Arise and Build season. As you all know, i was attached to MOE for the past 2 weeks. At first, i had expected that i would not get any money for working there. I was thinking very hard about how i would get enough money to fulfill my pledge building fund. this morning, my mentor msged me and told me i would get an allowance! its not much. but its almost enough to help me fulfill one mth of building fund! :) God is good. when we sacrifice for Him, He never fails to bless you with what you need most and at the right time :) Those who sow in tears will reap with joy :) we must all really believe in that. in the book of Luke, God speaks of the many miracles Jesus performed, many of which we done because the person had faith. Lets take our faith to a higher level! :)

Today in the morning, I was stand in front of the parade square waiting for morning parade to start. Where I stand firmly in front of 2 flag pole, and at the background of it wrote "honour & unity" the slogan of HTA.

As I think of God, i started to tearing in my heart, as thoughts of how much the CG have pray and fast for me to get to the NS vocation I wanted. And I know how much the leaders in LYL & Yilun herself have been praying for me to get here. In my heart, I still feel burden. At the end of the day, getting to this position is not about fame or people saying that I am very lucky to get here. but to send a message that prayer do really works. I don't have alot of testimony about myself about how God have bless me with this or that. But I can tell you, that everything I feel I cannot get it, I being to pluck in with faith.

Started to visualise how I wear the uniform, how I book in and out, i drew all the different kind of police uniform in a pocketbook everyday, I see myself hold the rank, I even planned on how to get home from the camp and CGMs. I told myself, others may not believe that I can have it but I need to have faith in seeing myself in having it.

Low faith level doesn't mean NO faith. There were times where I shared with others about the desire vocation they will say it will be hard for me to get it because the intake is very low. I know that some didn't even believe that I will get it. On the outside, they say they will pray for me to get the vocation. But on the inside they feel that I do not have chance.

What I want to share with you today is how to build a capacity of faith.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. This is a season where many of you are having holidays. And let me warn you, trials + tribulation is going hard you very hard if you don't prepare yourself.

Preparation of faith is the key thing is overcoming trials + tribulations. Let say today something real bad happened, for example: breakup with you & your girlfriend, your parents want to file a divorce case, maybe your parents go bankrupt or even your someone who is dear to you died on a accident. Will you still have faith in God? Where do you get faith in God? How do you get faith in God? What type of faith do you get in God?

To answer all these questions, Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God! Not just by reading the bible. Sometimes read the bible get complicated than having me drawing closer to God. How about pick-up afew Christians self help books at attributes. They are constantly have sales to encourage us to help ourselves in this faith walk with God. When is the last time that you read?

I have my faith capacity at where I am today by apply this principle call "Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God." READ BOOKS!!! not just your storybook but christian self-help books that will provoke you and change your way of understanding God. In these books, they always quote scriptures that will make you understand verses and even understand the until chapter of the bible. I will never feel more better that understand what God have for me. Who says God only through the bible. They speak to men and these authors have translate what God had spoken to them in books and understood languages. Find time in read these books.

The 1st christian book I read is "Kissing dating Goodbye" by Joshua Harris. The I read Max. Manhood by E L Cole and after reading so many books I am currently reading The Hidden Value of a Man by Gary Smalley.

Why not start reading and apply these principles in your life! Maybe God is going to speak to you today thru these God like how He did to me 4 years ago :D Lets be rooted in the word of God. In bible, self-help books, books that talks about relationship, personaility, being christ like, being evanglistic, seeing revival in your sch!

YEAH!

P.S: Through out the years, I have borrow many books away and I didn't take a record in it, cause I wasn't trained as a librarian Some books I borrow very long time ago and I didn't claim it back. So if you have my books or you THINK you have my books, can you be a kind-soul and look for it at your table, under your bed, disturb etc... :D Thanks alot!

For the month of November

Heys all!

In the month of November, we have a whole lot of activities installed for us. Starting with this weekend, 1st and 2nd November, is the start of Arise and Build. We will be pledging for building fund this weekend. Lets all really do our best for this Arise and Build so we can get a building in the marketplace, for the marketplace, to penetrate the marketplace. Yea!

From the 3rd to 7th November, there is Morning Prayer Meeting from 0645h-0800h. It will be held at 3 different locations. The locations are Heart of God church for those staying in the East, City Harvest Church for those staying in the West and Church of Singapore(Harvest) for those staying in the Central. Lets all make it an effort to wake up early to step into God's house and seek him. Lets start our day well by stepping into God's present!

In a short 20 days, we will be having Asia Conference! From the 19th to the 23th. Hope all of you are looking forward to it! The electives schedules are out, along with the many other activities happening during Asia Conference. You can check it out at http://www.asiaconference.org.sg/

Yea, we have so many exciting events coming up. We should try to invite our friends to church. So that they can see what is so great about City Harvest Church and its members!

Yay! Though Sarah and i didn't get into the finals(it's okay!) but there's THREE members from our zone got into the G R A N D F I N A L!

We'll be going down to Jurong West this Friday, to support our zone members :D We'll be meeting 3pm at Tampines Mrt Control, 5pm at Boon Lay Mrt Control. Meeting slightly earlier so that we can have our dinner together plus fellowship. Our Cg is targeting 35 people for this event. Lets really pray and reach out to the lost. So what are you waiting for? Invite your friends now! HAHA. Oh, we'll be going to gym this Sunday after service. At Tampines Complex. Lets really build up our stamina, keep ourself fit! :) Remember to bring your PT kit along. Or you can bring according to the 'To bring list' below.

The annual Festival of Praise will be held next week from 1 – 3 August 2008, 7.30 p.m. at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. We would like to invite you to join us for an amazing time in God’s presence as Christians from all over Singapore come together to celebrate and to offer their thanksgiving to Him for His blessings over our nation!

There WONT be our normal worship services on both Saturday and Sunday at expo! However, our cell group will be going for the Saturday and Sunday services at Indoor Stadium. So lets make an effort to at least attend one of the services at the Indoor Stadium. Lets also try our best to invite at least ONE friend each for the services you are attending. Details to the time and place we are meeting will be posted again. (:

2.Saturday (19 April 2008) Visit to Heart of God church is also canceled because Dr Cho's wife will be preaching on both sat and sun service so you are encourage to go double service on that weekend so hope to see you there ^^

Sorry Everybody for the late posting due to some reason lately haha^^

So do you all feel spiritually dry? Well i am haha^^
Do you all want to feel renew and charge up once again? Well i want haha^^

So this upcoming event is made just rite for you and me :)

On the 18th Apr 2008(Fri) there will be an overnight prayer meeting at Jurong West and we will go straight after cell group . This is a meeting that you all should not miss and for the first timer i believe this will be a great experience for u so don't miss it haha^^

Next is the 19th Apr 2008(Sat) we are visiting Heart Of God church 1 of our affiliated church and we are meeting 4pm at Paya Labar MRT station service starts at 5pm so everyone please be punctual and i believe we will be able to learn alot in that church so don't miss it seeya there. AMEN!!

And finally don't forget 20th Apr 2008(Sun) we will have our usual service in the morning at expo but something extraordinary is happening after service because we are having a prayer meeting with Dr Cho's Wife and i believe it will be a great meeting and we will all be charge up once again and i believe we will do even better for God after that so i urge you all to go.

Well as you have read it i believe you won't want to miss any of them don't you haha^^
